Hughston Surgical Center opens in Columbus for outpatient surgery; 15 new jobs created

 

COLUMBUS, GA - The new state-of-the-art Hughston Surgical Center recently opened in Columbus, GA, on the main campus of the Hughston Clinic, a world-renowned leader in orthopaedics and sports medicine.

Hughston Surgical Center is a $4 million, 9,000-square-foot outpatient surgery facility built and designed to serve patients who need less-complicated surgical procedures to repair injuries and conditions of the musculoskeletal system. The highly trained and skilled orthopaedic surgeons of Hughston Clinic will perform all surgeries at Hughston Surgical Center. These procedures include surgery of the hand and upper extremities, and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, elbow, hip, foot, and ankle.

Columbus Lions sign Samford players

COLUMBUS, GA - Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Jason Gibson announced the signings of Samford University defensive linemen John Michael Clay and Jason Gaines for the Columbus Lions’ 2012 Professional Indoor Football League season.

Clay, 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, is a two-time All-Southern Conference second-team performer from Vestavia Hills, Alabama.  Over the course of his college career, he recorded 120 tackles for the Bulldogs and started 33 of 44 games.  He capped his achievements by posting ten tackles (one for loss) in the 2010 FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) Senior Scout Bowl in Middletown, New York as the South edged the North, 13-12.

Local church broken into Monday night

COLUMBUS, GA - Maintenance staff discovered that a local church was burglarized Monday night.

Someone broke in through the kitchen window into Morningside Baptist's lower youth building. They then went to the upper building and stole a Wii game console and ten games, valued at $900.

Juvenile stabs man in head

COLUMBUS, GA - An argument led to one man being stabbed in the head yesterday at the Pine Grove Mobile Home Park.

Police arrived on the scene and spoke with a witness who said that a 31 year-old man was involved in a verbal argument with a juvenile.
