Historic Chattahoochee Commission to host free Panel Symposium

Historic Chattahoochee Commission will be hosting a free Panel Symposium on Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Angela Pulley Hudson will speak on her critically acclaimed book, "Creek Paths and Federal Roads: Indians, Settlers, and Slaves and the Making of the American South." Dr. Terry Winemiller from Auburn University will also present information on the Old Federal Road Project.

On Saturday, May 25 participants will also be given guided tours of Ft. Mitchell Historical Park & the Chattahoochee Indian Heritage Center.

The Georgia artistic attraction known as Pasaquan, which has drawn national attention to the area, will be open to the public on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Pasaquan and its eccentric creator, Eddie Owens Martin, have been featured in dozens of local, regional, and national publications and television shows, including the New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, NPR, and many others.

The Columbus Museum will offer free drop-in-tours on May 18 and the Rothschild Distinguished Speaker Series on May 16 as part of the Association of Art Museum Directors’ (AAMD) Art Museum Day, coinciding with International Museum Day.

Last year, the Columbus Museum – along with more than 120 other AAMD member museums across North America—participated in Art Museum Day.

The always popular “Margaret Carney Tea & Music Series” will be returning for its 7th season to the Columbus Public Library on Friday afternoons this May. This year’s theme will be “A Tune… A Tale… and a Cup of Tea”, featuring music with strong narrative imagery, and tea grown at the Charleston Tea Plantation in South Carolina.

A near 100% chance of rain will be moving the First Annual Columbus Children’s Book Festival indoors.

Originally intended to take place on the front lawn of the Columbus Public Library, the event will now take place inside the Library building at 3000 Macon Road.

The long-awaited First Annual Columbus Children’s Book Festival debuts on Saturday May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

St. Luke Orchestra to perform Rhapsody in Blue

St. Luke Orchestra to perform Rhapsody in Blue

St. Luke Orchestra will be performing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with guest soloist Yein Wang on Wednesday May 1, at 6 p.m. at the St. Luke Ministry Center. 

The performance will also feature the All-American music of John Williams and Henry Mancini.

Concert admission is free.  Dinner is 7 dollars, and by reservation only.
