COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A Columbus police officer at the scene of a minor traffic accident on Wednesday, May 30, witnessed a separate car accident that led to the arrest of three men on drug and gun charges.

The officer was filling out paperwork for the first accident at Floyd Road and Luna Drive when he heard a loud bang. He saw that an accident had happened between a red truck and a black truck. He then noticed that a man riding in the red truck began to walk away from the scene. The officer stopped the man and ordered him to give him his information.

While searching the red truck, officers found 2.25 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and a firearm. After the discovery, the three occupants of the red pick-up were placed under arrest and taken to the Muscogee County Jail.

Christopher McDonald, 21, James Jamal Brown, 23, and Brandon Howard, 23, are all charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a drug related object, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

They will have their first court appearance Friday afternoon.
