Controlled burn on Fort Benning | Environment

FORT BENNING, GA - The Directorate of Public Works is conducting controlled/prescribed burn in the eastern portion of post today. Winds are favorable and smoke is not expected to escape post.

The wind and dispersion index (how quickly smoke dissipates) are the most critical factors in predicting the effects of smoke generated by the controlled burn activities. Officials work to prevent smoke from reaching the communities surrounding Fort Benning.
