Pasaquan opening to public first Saturday of each month

The Georgia artistic attraction known as Pasaquan, which has drawn national attention to the area, will be open to the public on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Pasaquan and its eccentric creator, Eddie Owens Martin, have been featured in dozens of local, regional, and national publications and television shows, including the New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, NPR, and many others.

Valley Rescue Mission's Camp JOY now accepting applications

Now in its 40th year of operation, Camp JOY is a 6-week long summer camp for children ages 7 to 11. There will be 3 weeks for girls, and 3 weeks for boys. Every child who enrolls can attend during one week of their choice. 

There is no charge to the families for sending children to Camp JOY. Instead, their week at camp is generously underwritten by supporters from throughout the community.

Camp JOY seeks to provide a camping experience that will encourage Christian growth and have a lasting positive impact on the children.

"Margaret Carney Tea & Music Series" returns to the Columbus Public Library

The always popular “Margaret Carney Tea & Music Series” will be returning for its 7th season to the Columbus Public Library on Friday afternoons this May. This year’s theme will be “A Tune… A Tale… and a Cup of Tea”, featuring music with strong narrative imagery, and tea grown at the Charleston Tea Plantation in South Carolina.

First Annual Columbus Children's Book Festival to welcome renowned authors and illustrators

A near 100% chance of rain will be moving the First Annual Columbus Children’s Book Festival indoors.

Originally intended to take place on the front lawn of the Columbus Public Library, the event will now take place inside the Library building at 3000 Macon Road.

The long-awaited First Annual Columbus Children’s Book Festival debuts on Saturday May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Midtown Classic 5K Run and One Mile Fun Run to benefit local neighborhood non-profits

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- On Saturday, April 27, Wynnton United Methodist Church (UMC) will sponsor and host the Seventh Annual Midtown Classic 5K Run and One Mile Fun Run. Proceeds of this event will support the Wynnton Neighborhood Network, and Wynnton Neighborhood Housing.

The One Mile Fun Run begins at 8:00 a.m. Participants in this event may walk or run.

The 5K Race begins at 9:00 am.

The race course will begin at Wynnton UMC, run through the Lakebottom area and return to the Wynnton UMC site. All age groups may participate. Awards will be given from ages 0-70+.

Columbus Water Works to celebrate National Drinking Water Week with open house event

As part of National Drinking Water Week, the Columbus Water Works will be hosting an open house on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There will be educational displays, refreshments, and fun for the children. 

The open house will take place at the North columbus Water Resources Facility located at 5301 River Road.
