COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- A Columbus family narrowly escapes a house fire by jumping from a second-story window. Fire officials received a call around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday of a burning home on Ridgefield Drive, near St. Mary's Road.
A mother and her two children were sleeping in the house when the fire started.
They were unable to escape on the bottom floor, so they went upstairs and jumped from a window into the waiting hands of a neighbor.
The mother and children were taken to the hospital. Officials say the fire started in the kitchen and caused roughly $150,000 in damage.
