COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- Columbus police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened just before 9 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 6th Avenue and 32nd Street, near River Road and Veterans Parkway.

News Leader 9 spoke with a neighbor who says things like this are common in the area. "We grew up here and back then, we didn't have to worry about locking doors, or screen doors. You'd go to bed at night and leave your doors open and not have to worry about nobody coming in your house or anything. Now you have to bolt your windows and just about bolt your doors at night, " said John Chatwood, neighbor.
Police are still investigating the case. So far, there has been no word on a possible suspect.
This is the city's fourth murder of the year.
