COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- The 10th Annual Career and
Job Expo was held at the Columbus Trade and Convention Center on Thursday.
The Georgia Department of
Labor and Columbus Technical College assisted Clear Channel Radio with this
event.
It was open to the public
until 2 p.m. We're told that 2,100 job seekers attended the fair, and 95
employers were there, looking for someone to hire.
Mikell Fryer, Regional
Director for the Georgia Department of Labor told us why they chose to hold
this event on Valentine's Day.
"One of the things
about having a job fair on Valentine's Day is everybody knows that you need to
go home with a box of chocolates, but it's a greater thing to go home with a
box of chocolates and a job - and, so we are hoping a number of these folks go
home with a box of chocolates and a job," said Fryer.
They also helped with
resumes and other things you need in order to find a job.
We are told that in the
first thirty minutes alone, there were more than 600 people in attendance.
