Leading Ladies non-profit organization will be hosting a conference entitled "His Will, Her Way: What a Man Really Wants" featuring keynote speaker Dr. Rondrick Williamson from the national show "The Doctors".  The conference will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Other speakers include Dr. Norman Hardman, Corey Geter, Juan Denmark and more.

First Annual Columbus Children's Book Festival to welcome renowned authors and illustrators

A near 100% chance of rain will be moving the First Annual Columbus Children’s Book Festival indoors.

Originally intended to take place on the front lawn of the Columbus Public Library, the event will now take place inside the Library building at 3000 Macon Road.

The long-awaited First Annual Columbus Children’s Book Festival debuts on Saturday May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Columbus State to Graduate One of its Largest Classes Ever

COLUMBUS, Ga. —Columbus State University will graduate one of its largest classes ever at its spring commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday, May 6 in the Columbus Civic Center. Dan Amos, Aflac chairman and CEO, will also receive an honorary doctorate during the ceremony. 

CSU expects to award 769 degrees (240 graduate, 503 undergraduate and 26 summer candidates) that evening. The commencement speaker will be Dink NeSmith, chairman of the state Board of Regents for the University System of Georgia.

Georgia Military College Columbus Professor receives Character Educator of the Year Award

The President of Georgia Military College (GMC), Major General Peter J. Boylan, declared professor Dr. Keshia Easterling of Columbus to be the GMC Junior College Character Educator of the Year.

The award is presented annually to honor GMC faculty members who have distinguished themselves during the school year. Easterling was chosen for elevating student understanding of ethics and for the creative and innovative manner in which she inspired students to value ethical behavior during the 2012-2013 academic year.

Georgia Military College Columbus students place 5th at National Junior College Ethics Bowl Champion

Georgia Military College Columbus students James Spruill, Ft. Benning, GA, Marcus Priester, Phenix City, AL, Micheal Randle, Columbus, GA, and Alexandria Williams, Columbus, GA, traveled to Milledgeville to compete last weekend in the National Junior College Ethics Bowl Championship.

The Georgia Military College Columbus team won two matches and placed fifth. The team’s coach, Dr. Keshia Easterling, Columbus, GA, along with GMC’s Ethics Program Coordinator, Dr. Stephen Barber, Columbus, GA, were in attendance.  The National Champion was Harper College of Palatine, IL.
