The Skate Shed to host Wing Ding 2013

The Skate Shed will be hosting a wing cook-off and skateboard competition on June 1, 2013. Wing judging will begin at 2 p.m., the skate competition will begin at 3 p.m, and live musical performances will begin around 5 or 6 p.m. 

Wing Ding 2013 is free for spectators.  Wings will be sold on plates of 2 for $1, and the cost to compete in the skateboard contest will be $10 with registration on the day of the event.

Midtown Classic 5K Run and One Mile Fun Run to benefit local neighborhood non-profits

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- On Saturday, April 27, Wynnton United Methodist Church (UMC) will sponsor and host the Seventh Annual Midtown Classic 5K Run and One Mile Fun Run. Proceeds of this event will support the Wynnton Neighborhood Network, and Wynnton Neighborhood Housing.

The One Mile Fun Run begins at 8:00 a.m. Participants in this event may walk or run.

The 5K Race begins at 9:00 am.

The race course will begin at Wynnton UMC, run through the Lakebottom area and return to the Wynnton UMC site. All age groups may participate. Awards will be given from ages 0-70+.

World Tai Chi Day celebration in Columbus

Columbus families are invited to celebrate World Tai Chi Day on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in front of the waterfall at the Whisperwood Athletic Club from 10 a.m. to noon. 

Forty students and instructors of Tai Chi and Qigong from the Columbus area will give demonstration of the traditional Chinese exercise form.  The Tai Chi class from the DA Turner YMCA will participate, Dr.  Lu’s class will perform a Tai Chi Sword routine, and an instructor will demonstrate the Tai Chi form recommended by the Arthritis Association.

Spring Eggstravaganza at Riverside

The Easter Bunny returns to Fort Benning from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, March 23 for the annual Spring Eggstravaganza.  This year's fun will take place on the lawn of Riverside, the home of Fort Benning’s commanding general, located at the corner of Vibbert and Lumpkin.

VIRAL VIDEO: Worst Free Throw Ever at CSU basketball game

COLUMBUS, GA - Columbus is going viral this week with a video dubbed the worst free throw ever.

The Lady Cougars of CSU were playing Georgia College on Feb. 16 when the now infamous shot happened. 

One of the Lady Bobcat players lined up and went for the throw, coming up very short.

Carver High coach headed to Auburn

COLUMBUS, GA - Carver High School football coach Dell McGee is leaving Columbus for the plains of Auburn.

Sources say that he is going to work at Auburn University's football program in an off-field adiminstrative job.
