Car wreck leads to arrest of three men on drug and gun charges

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A Columbus police officer at the scene of a minor traffic accident on Wednesday, May 30, witnessed a separate car accident that led to the arrest of three men on drug and gun charges.

The officer was filling out paperwork for the first accident at Floyd Road and Luna Drive when he heard a loud bang. He saw that an accident had happened between a red truck and a black truck. He then noticed that a man riding in the red truck began to walk away from the scene. The officer stopped the man and ordered him to give him his information.

Congested road finally getting a makeover

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus road that can be quite a headache is finally getting some attention. The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that a they have hired a company to widen the often congested Whittlesey Rd.

McMath-Turner Construction Company, based in Columbus, will widen and reconstruct the road froim Rollins Way to Veterans Pkwy.

COLUMBUS, GA - I-185 will have lane closures for the next week on both north and southbound lanes at St. Mary's Road and Macon Road overpasses.

The work will start at 9 pm and last until 5 pm nightly from Wednesday, April 11 through Wednesday, April 18, weather permitting.

COLUMBUS, GA - On April 18, both Columbus-area Epperly Tire locations will continue their Changing Oil Changing Lives event by donating 100% of the oil change proceeds to the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter.

“We conduct Changing Oil Changing Lives every month to give back to worthy causes within our community,” said Epperly Tire owner, David Epperly. “This month, we couldn’t think of a more deserving organization than The Alzheimer’s Association.”

Homeowner finds engines stolen from carport

COLUMBUS, GA - A homeowner discovered two car engines were stolen from his carport on Estes Dr. over the weekend.

The victim told police Monday, March 26 that the two Chevrolet engines, valued at $3,500 each, were on stands in his carport covered with black plastic bags.

The winner will serve as the Legacy Chevrolet spokesperson for one year, appearing in print, television and radio commercials.
